Cookie Policy

Effective Date: February 16, 2026

In Plain English: We use very few cookies. Google Analytics sets one analytics cookie. Everything else uses localStorage (not cookies) to save your plots and settings. No tracking, no third-party advertising cookies.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit them. They help websites remember information about your visit, like your preferences or login status.

There are different types of cookies:

2. How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies

2.1 Essential Browser Storage (Not Cookies)

Our applications primarily use localStorage and IndexedDB, which are browser storage mechanisms that are technically not cookies. These store:

Why we use localStorage instead of cookies: Your data stays on your device and never leaves unless you explicitly export it. localStorage does not get sent to our servers with every request (unlike cookies).

This storage is essential for our Services to function. You cannot disable it without losing functionality.

2.2 Analytics Cookies

We use two analytics services, one of which uses cookies:

Service Cookie Name Purpose Duration
Google Analytics (GA4) _ga Distinguish unique visitors 2 years
Google Analytics (GA4) _ga_* Store session state 2 years
Plausible Analytics None Privacy-friendly analytics (no cookies) N/A

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with IP anonymization enabled and respect for Do Not Track signals. The _ga cookie does not contain personal information and is used only to distinguish unique users across sessions.

Plausible Analytics: Does not use cookies at all. It collects anonymized usage statistics without any personal data or persistent identifiers.

3. What We Do NOT Use

We explicitly do NOT use:

4. How to Manage Cookies

4.1 Browser Settings

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Here's how:

Note: If you block all cookies or clear localStorage, you will lose your saved stage plots and settings.

4.2 Opt Out of Google Analytics

To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites:

4.3 Private/Incognito Mode

Using your browser in private/incognito mode will prevent persistent cookies from being saved. However, it will also prevent our app from saving your stage plots, so you'll lose your work when you close the window.

5. Third-Party Cookies

When you use our Services, the following third parties may set cookies:

5.1 Google Analytics

Google sets the _ga and related cookies for analytics purposes. Google's use of cookies is governed by their privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

5.2 Stripe (Payment Pages Only)

When you click "Upgrade to Pro" and are redirected to Stripe's checkout page, Stripe may set its own cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing. These cookies are set by Stripe, not by us, and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy

Stripe cookies are only set when you visit Stripe's checkout page, not when browsing our main site or using our applications.

6. Detailed Cookie Table

Type Name Purpose Duration Category
Analytics _ga Distinguish unique users 2 years Third-party (Google)
Analytics _ga_<container-id> Persist session state 2 years Third-party (Google)
localStorage sl_plots Store saved stage plots Persistent First-party (essential)
localStorage sl_pro_license Store Pro license key Persistent First-party (essential)
localStorage sl_settings Store app preferences Persistent First-party (essential)
localStorage sl_language Remember language choice Persistent First-party (functional)

Note: localStorage is technically not a cookie but serves a similar purpose. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not sent to our servers.

7. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do:

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
