AVID VENUE S6L · .DSH

Light-touch patches into the S6L show file.

Import a .dsh show, build the plot, and export a copy where load·in changed exactly the fields it needed to and nothing else.

01 — The format

A VENUE show, edited offline or on the engine

.dsh is an Avid VENUE Show file. Prep and edit shows offline in Avid VENUE Standalone, or work directly from the S6L Engine/surface — either way it's the same file format, moved by USB or network the way your system is already set up.

02 — What load·in reads

Names and strip structure

Import a .dsh and load·in reads channel names and the MicLine strip layout into your plot, holding the companion data blocks so they carry through to your export.

03 — What load·in writes

Light-touch patches, not a rebuilt show

Channel names
HPF, EQ, gate, and comp — switches and values, light-touch patches. The HPF corner, EQ band gain/frequency/Q, and the comp and gate thresholds are written where you set them.
Mix (Aux Strip) label text — proven on an imported show, label text only
Aux send on/off and level — newly supported, and not yet accepted on a physical S6L. Check your sends at the console.

04 — What load·in leaves alone

Light-touch means exactly that

load·in's S6L writer changes only the flags, values and sends you touched, plus a label field for names and Aux Strip text — nothing more. Companion data blocks, everything else on a strip, and the rest of the show file are left exactly as they were. If load·in didn't touch it, it isn't rewritten.

05 — What load·in won't claim

The honest edges

The send write is new. It reproduces the geometry of your own file's two send stores where they already agree, and writes the routing block alone where they don't — no physical S6L has accepted one yet, so ring the wedges before the doors.
Mix label writeback is proven on an imported show being re-exported — it's label text only, not full Aux Strip configuration.
Stereo pairing is not read or written for S6L in either direction — set and verify stereo links on the desk.

06 — Before the show

Verify it before it's the desk's problem
