Trademark & Interoperability Notice

Effective Date: July 15, 2026

In Plain English: load·in is independent software, built by go·for·show, that reads and writes data files compatible with several manufacturers' digital mixing consoles so touring engineers can prepare their own shows faster. We do not make, sell, license, bundle, modify, or redistribute any manufacturer's console, firmware, editor software, or copyrighted content. Every manufacturer, product, and brand name on this page belongs to its own owner. Naming a console or DAW here means "our files work with it" — nothing more. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, certified by, or officially connected to any manufacturer named on this page.

1. What load·in Is

load·in is a stage-plot, input-list, and show-file preparation tool published by go·for·show. It helps live-sound engineers, tour managers, and production staff build and organize their own show documentation, and — for supported console families — generate data files that are compatible with those consoles' native scene, session, or show-file formats.

load·in is independently developed software. It is not a plugin, add-on, mod, patch, firmware, or licensed component of any console manufacturer's product. It does not include, embed, bundle, distribute, reverse-distribute, or derive from any manufacturer's proprietary software, firmware, editor application, sound library, or other copyrighted material. Any file load·in produces is generated by load·in's own code, written by go·for·show, to be readable by the target console or editor — it is not a copy, modification, or repackaging of anything the manufacturer ships.

2. Interoperability Statement

Digital mixing consoles from different manufacturers use documented or de facto file formats to store scenes, shows, sessions, and configurations (for example .scn, .CLF, .ses, .dsh, and similar container formats). load·in produces and reads data files that are compatible with these formats for the sole purpose of helping users prepare, translate, and organize their own production data — channel names, colors, stereo links, mix/bus labels, and similar identity and structural information — across the consoles they already own or are booked to run.

3. Nominative Fair Use

Every manufacturer, product, and model name on this page and throughout goforshow.io and the load·in application is used only to describe which consoles and software our files are compatible with — never to describe or brand go·for·show's own products, and never as a substitute for our own trademarks ("go·for·show," "load·in").

This use falls squarely within the doctrine of nominative fair use, first articulated in New Kids on the Block v. News America Publishing, Inc., 971 F.2d 302 (9th Cir. 1992), and applied (with some variation in formulation) across US federal courts since. Nominative fair use permits a party to use another's trademark to truthfully identify or refer to the trademark owner's own goods or services, provided that:

  1. The product or service cannot readily be identified without using the mark. There is no substitute for the word "X32" that tells a user their file will open on a Behringer X32 — generic language ("a certain 40-input digital console") would be misleading and impractical.
  2. Only as much of the mark is used as is reasonably necessary to identify the product. go·for·show uses manufacturer and product word marks only, for identification. We do not reproduce manufacturers' logos, stylized wordmarks, trade dress, packaging, or house colors, and we do not use any mark more prominently than necessary to state compatibility.
  3. Nothing suggests sponsorship or endorsement by the mark owner. Every reference to a third-party mark on this site is paired with, or governed by, this notice's express disclaimer of affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, and certification (Section 6).

Separately, the Lanham Act's own fair-use provisions support truthful, non-source-identifying descriptive use of another's mark — see, e.g., 15 U.S.C. § 1125(c)(3)(A) (fair-use exclusion from dilution liability for uses that identify or refer to the goods or services of the mark's owner). Nominative fair use standards can vary somewhat by federal circuit; this notice does not constitute a jurisdiction-specific legal opinion.

4. Trademark Attribution and No-Affiliation Notice

The following manufacturers, products, and marks may be referenced on goforshow.io, within the load·in application, in its documentation, or in its marketing and support materials, solely to describe file compatibility, import/export targets, or interoperability.
