How It Works

1

Build your stage plot in stage·left

Add instruments, assign channel names, organize your input list. Colors are assigned automatically by instrument category.

2

Export Director CSV

Go to FilesExport Console File → select dLive. Download the Director-format CSV file.

3

Import in dLive Director

Open dLive Director on your computer (free from allen-heath.com). Go to FileImport CSV and select the downloaded file. Channel names and colors populate in Director.

4

Push to the console

Connect Director to your dLive over the network. Push the show from Director to the console. Channel names and colors appear on the surface.

Color Mapping

stage·left maps instrument categories to the dLive native color palette automatically. The color mapping prioritizes readability on the console surface: drums get warm colors, vocals get cool colors, DI inputs and playback get neutral tones.

When you import an existing dLive Director CSV into stage·left, the original color assignments are preserved. When you export, colors are mapped back to the nearest Director palette entry.

Colors appear consistently whether you are running a dLive with a C1500 surface or an S5000.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the channel name character limit on dLive?
The dLive has an 8-character limit for channel names on the scribble strips. stage·left auto-abbreviates longer names to fit. "Kick Drum" becomes "Kick", "Overhead L" becomes "OH L". Review the exported CSV to confirm abbreviations work for your setup.
Do I need dLive Director to import the CSV?
Yes. The dLive does not have a direct CSV import on the console surface. You import the CSV through Director software (free from Allen & Heath), then push the show from Director to the console. Director V2.0 or later is required for CSV import.
Can I import an existing dLive show into stage·left?
Yes. Export a CSV from Director, then import it into stage·left via FilesImport Console File. stage·left reads the channel names and colors from the Director CSV and populates your input list.
Will stage·left support more Allen & Heath consoles?
More Allen & Heath console support is on the way. We are actively expanding compatibility. Pro users get every new format automatically.
