How It Works

1

Build your stage plot

Open stage·left and build your stage plot. Add instruments, assign channel names, set colors. The input list auto-generates from your stage layout.

2

Export CSV for your model

Go to Files tab, tap Export Console File, and select your specific Yamaha model (CL1, CL3, CL5, QL1, QL5, etc.). Download the CSV file.

3

Load via USB or CL/QL Editor

Copy the CSV to a FAT32 USB drive and import on the console via SceneImport. Or open CL/QL Editor, import the CSV, and push the scene to the console over the network.

4

Channel names appear on the desk

Channel names populate on the touchscreen and scribble strips. Colors map to the Yamaha palette automatically. No manual entry.

Full Unicode Support

The Yamaha CL and QL series natively support Unicode text on their touchscreens and scribble strips. stage·left preserves Unicode characters in the CSV export, so channel names in any language work correctly without any encoding issues.

Channel names in any language

Kick · Snare · OH L · OH R
ボーカル · キーボード · ドラム
보컬 · 기타 · 드럼

Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and all other Unicode characters render natively on Yamaha consoles.

Color Mapping

stage·left automatically maps instrument categories to the Yamaha color palette. The Yamaha palette differs slightly from other consoles. stage·left picks the closest available color for each instrument category, prioritizing readability on the touchscreen. Drums get warm colors, vocals get cool colors, DI inputs get neutral tones.

When you import a Yamaha CSV, the original color assignments are preserved and displayed in stage·left. When you export, colors are mapped back to the nearest Yamaha palette entry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Japanese or Korean channel names?
Yes. The Yamaha CL and QL series natively support full Unicode, including Japanese, Korean, and Chinese characters. stage·left preserves Unicode characters in the CSV export, so channel names in any language work correctly on the console's touchscreen and scribble strips.
Will stage·left support more Yamaha consoles?
More Yamaha models coming soon. stage·left currently supports the CL and QL series with .CLF binary export and CSV import. Pro users get every new console format automatically.
Channel names are cut off on the scribble strips. What happened?
Yamaha CL/QL scribble strips have an 8-character limit. stage·left auto-abbreviates longer names for the export. "Kick Drum" becomes "Kick", "Overhead L" becomes "OH L". Review the exported CSV to confirm the abbreviations work for your setup.
Can I import an existing Yamaha scene into stage·left?
Yes. Export a CSV from your CL/QL Editor or from the console via USB. Import it into stage·left under Files → Import Console File. stage·left reads the channel names and colors from the CSV and populates your input list.
